VONN ON TOP OF THE WORLD

American alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn has been on a roll and continues her glorious run in recent times. She had a hic up at the Slalom on the 21st of December 2010. But then still she is going smooth on the ice track as a whole, in tandem with her gold plated win last year. That, in the mean time also included Olympic and World Cup overall and discipline championships.

The male alpine ski racing champ Ted Ligety too continues with his brilliant form in turn. He went on to win the race at the giant slalom course in Italy Sunday. This was perhaps his third straight World Cup GS victory.

It was only the last weekend that had Vonn standing first on the podium not once but twice. She had very convincingly won the downhill and super-combined, on back to back days. The young Cup season has seen Vonn rule the roost even as everyone was amazed and yet not surprised actually by the champion’s performance at the Val D’Isere, France. She even maintained brilliant form in Europe.

Ligety had put in a lot of heavy physical training and strenuous work out sessions. All the hard work paid off in the end as he effectively carved turns on the difficult icy courses. He ended up with an almost perfect second run and beat the others to claim victory.
