EX ARMY MAN FEELS FOR THE TROOPS STUCK IN WARZONES

Chuck Donabedian knows how it feels for a soldier who is out there lonely and all by himself, secluded. There is no barrier between him and death. He is at once a killer and a victim. The sheer torture of being in an environment of violence and hatred is simply inexplicable. Chuck was himself a soldier once, a Vietnam War veteran who saw the face of death from close corners. A good forty five years ago he was himself a part of a secret squad named DET 3, 3rd Radio Research Unit that was stationed in the chaotic jungles of Vietnam.

His task along with his team mates was to locate the enemy soldiers hidden in the jungles and signal the all-volunteer 101st Airborne Division and other US troops to go on a killing spree, by letting them in on the location of the foes. None the less this was back then. Chuck came back alive and made a very successful career as investment advisor. But then he knew deep down of all hell that would break loose in the war zones every day. Now even as he sees other young lads of the 101st Airborne Division heading for the war zones, it simply breaks his heart.

For the same, he went on to find the DET 3 Foundation which is a Non Profit Organization for the welfare of the troops fighting for the country in the far off lands of Afghanistan and Iraq. His group now helps 400 soldiers from the 101st Airborne and also many marines. He’s got a fund raising event coming up where he plans to raise as much as $100,000. So passionate is he about his mission that the man is even willing to sell off his 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, worth $24,500 no less.

The car is classy and in great condition. His organization which he manages along with the help of his many friends supplies soldiers with food; clothing and related goods which help ease out their pain and despair a little bit.

It all first began in the year 2005 When Donabedian contacted a soldier of the 101st Airborne. The troop’s name was Josh Walker, Chuck did so through the website “anysoldier.com.” Chuck paid for everything from his own pocket.

He was touched after seeing a post by Walker which spoke of how lonely and hapless the troops of his division felt far away from home and dear ones. But now with his DET 3 Foundation, Chuck is looking at helping the troops in any which ways he can.
