Tameside borough to go ahead with Quartet Contests

It was announced a few days back that due to lack of adequate funds, Tameside Metropolitan Council will not be sponsoring the British Open Solo and Quartet Championships this year. But now the council has reversed its decisions and is supporting the British Open Solo and Quartet Championship with full fervor. The event is scheduled to take place on November 7, 2010 at Dunkfield Town Hall.

The council reviewed a lot of other alternatives which would have allowed them to continue supporting the event in the current year as well as in the years to come despite the huge financial constraints it is currently facing.

The Championship is among the best music events held by the Tameside borough annually. Other mega concerts and competitions include the ‘Splendid Weekend’ and other state-of-the-art music event which are quite affordable.

Councilor Roy Oldham, the Executive Leader, Tameside Council spoke of the council’s intention to encourage such events in the future without any reduction or lack of devotion. He also encouraged the borough’s youth to actively participate in such events and concerts, and prove their mettle. It is the musical heritage of Tame Side which the council wants to uphold and maintain through these music competitions and contests.

The people of Tameside are no less excited by the announcement as they get a chance to revel in the glory and fun of these competitions and concerts. Its one of the most important events that is eagerly looked forward to by the residents in this part of the world.
